Ah, Saturdays are very lovely (same with Sundays). Chris is home and we go out and do things together. Its very nice. So I thought I would share about our day.
We got up at 11 and went to lunch at the Sea Jack. Sea Jack is the sushi bar that is really cheap, (24 pieces of sushi and cokes for $18...you cant beat that price). Then we went to a nifty media center, kinda like Best Buy in America but not really. Anyways, we wandered around and actually found some english novels stuck in with the rest of the japanese books. Makes me want to go and explore and see what else I can find. I also got my first Japanese CD from there. Its Orange Range and they are super popular right now. Its a fun CD and I like it. How fun! It was kinda expensive but CDs are expensive in Japan and its worth it. Its really long.
So after that we came and sat around for a bit in the apartment. I was listening to my CD while reading a book and Chris was surfing the internet. After my CD finished we went back out to the Justco to get some things for the apartment. I still dont have anywhere to keep my clothes and we were trying to find something that would work. Well, we didnt really find anything but we did get 4 glasses, 2 forks, and a bread knife. How homey!!
Then came the stupid part of my day. Chris let me out so I could turn our DVDs back into BEST. They were a day over due but we assumed it would be like in America and you pay when you try to rent something else. NOPE! I left the DVDs with the lady and started down the escalator (best is REALLY big) and she chased me down and we had a not very useful conversation in Japanese (I was going...uh...er...). Luckily I knew they were late so I figured out that she wanted me to pay late fees now. Unfortunately I had no cash on me so I had to tell her to wait a second while I got money from Chris. So embarassing! So I get some money from Chris and we go upstairs to pay...and its not enough. OH GOD! I am so embarassed at this point and I tell her to wait again and I have to flag Chris down for the second time to get more dollars (actually, I just needed 50 cents). Ugh...so embarassing. I hate when I cant explain why Im being the stupid foreigner (we do it differently in America) all I could do was say "sorry" and "please wait just a second". Heh. When Im flustered I have no chance at speaking Japanese. When Im calm its not as big of a problem. Oh well. So that was the stupid and embarassing part of my day.
After we got home, because of my embarassment and stress, I had the makings of a migraine so I decided to lie down since thats the best way to get rid of a migraine if you dont have good headache medicine. Chris was a sweety and took a nap with me. He set the clock so we would only sleep for an hour. Oh...that so doesnt work when its dark and Im trying to get over a headache. We ended up napping for 2 hours. Oops. So we get up and go to Hok for dinner. Im so pleased, I made my first Japanese dinner (well, WE made it...worked together adn all that). We had donburi and salads. Mmmmm! It was quite tasty though we both ate way too much. Now Chris is playing Taiko Drum Master (heh...he loves this game! Good thing my headache is gone.)
And now to explain my entry title. What I havent mentioned yet is the temperature. About two weeks ago it was steamy. I was wearing shorts and sandals everywhere. It was definitely warm. One week ago the temperatures dropped to wearing long pants and shoes. It wasnt cold, it just felt like fall. Today...today was different. Today was COLD. Today was a jacket kind of day. Luckily, we got in Chris's winter clothes on Thursday adn I brought my jacket with me. But its still pretty cold even with jackets. We had the heater on in the car! Thats also why we didnt want to get out of bed to end our nap. It was nice and warm under our comforters but chilly in the apartment (no heaters...we are getting some tomorrow most likely). But tonight was miserable. We decide to go to Hok, which is a 5 minute walk from our apartment. When we open the door to go outside the wind is soooo strong and its raining so hard. So its even extra cold because of the wind. Suddenly the wind changes and blows onto the walkway. Meaning Chris and I get COVERED in rain...only its not just raining. Its sleeting and hailing. Oh my gosh it was SOOOOO COLD. We hurry downstairs and decide its worth it to drive to Hok. Its just too rainy/sleety/haily to walk over there. I mean, there is no way we could possibly use an umbrella with the wind as bad as it was. So Chris, my chivalrous knight, got the car for me so I didnt have to run in the sleet (I fell down the stairs on Monday night so now he kinda worries about me falling...no worries, I didnt hurt myself, just scraped my elbow and bruised the rest of me). Blah...but its so miserable. That was pretty much how the rest of our night went. Running in and out of the rain to get food and get home. Very cold. Poor Chris had sleet stuck to him when we got to Hok.
So I know its cold in Georgia but Im going to fuss that its colder here. Maybe not with the staight temperature (its about 10C which means 50F) but with this wind and rain, it makes it feel A LOT colder. Man, the wind is so bad here, we have all the doors and windows closed it just whistles through the apartment. We are definitely getting some heaters tomorrow. Its not freezing in the apartment, but it does get a little chilly. Be prepared though, if you come visit us in the winter, its going to be COLD. No central heat!! Good thing its a small apartment, that will make it easier to heat.
So, not the most interesting entry every, but i just wanted to give you a peak into what my weekends are like since I told you what my days are like. No day is ever alike, but its a good picture of what we do. Hope I didnt bore you!
